Career Services
Pamplin MBA students at the National Capital Region have the assistance of career services offices on the Blacksburg campus-Virginia Tech's Career Services office as well as the college's career and job search advising office that caters specifically to MBAs. Pamplin's career services office seeks to help MBAs identify and capitalize on their distinctive gifts and to determine how their career objectives fit their personal and professional priorities. It offers seminars and individual counseling, and emphasize a holistic, proactive, integrated marketing approach to the career search. Additionally, this office serves as a liaison with companies seeking MBA hires.
Business Horizons Career Fair
Offers Pamplin students informal opportunities each fall to meet representatives of more than 130 companies that recruit heavily at the college.
Big East MBA Consortium
Conducts a "virtual job fair," bringing students and corporate recruiters together electronically. Each school recruits its top companies to participate. Because of the geographic diversity of Big East schools, this affiliation provides Pamplin MBAs the opportunity to be considered by employers that normally do not recruit at Virginia Tech's campus. Official name: The MBA Consortium of Schools and Colleges of the Big East Conference.
Electronic Resumé Files
Maintained in the MBA Office; allows information about candidates to be rapidly sent to recruiters. (The MBAA's web page provides a member listing and links to resumés, at the discretion of the individual student.)
International MBA Job Fair (Orlando, Fla.)
Introduces Pamplin's international MBAs to major U.S. companies hiring in both the United States and the student's home country. Resumés are submitted electronically to the companies, and students are advised of the number of interviews they have before committing to travel to Orlando.
Virginia Tech Career Services
The university's central office for career services provides outstanding web-based interview scheduling and job search support for all students. Students can visit its web site, www.career.vt.edu, for more detailed information.
