Transfers / Exemptions
Exemptions
No exemptions of core courses are allowed. The Pamplin MBA attracts students from a wide range of academic and professional backgrounds. Typically, students bring diverse professional experience and knowledge of current business problems and opportunities to the classroom. They are expected to share these experiences and knowledge and learn from each other as well as from the professor and the textbooks. To enable students to benefit from class interactions with one other and with their professors, we require full-time students to take all the core courses.
Transfers
In certain cases, it is possible to transfer up to nine hours from an AACSB-accredited institution to the Pamplin MBA Program.
The MBA director will review the appropriateness of all requests for transfer credit. Usually, this takes place when the student formalizes his/her plan of study and should be completed early in the program.
Transfer credits must also follow the requirements of the Virginia Tech Graduate School. In part, this requires that the student has received at least a grade "B" to transfer the course. An official copy of the transcript from the transfer institution should be sent to the MBA Director. Contact the Pamplin MBA Office for details.
